Brow Lift Procedure in Dallas, TX
For years, women have gone to extraordinary lengths to disguise brow descent by shaping, drawing, and tattooing their eyebrows in exaggerated arches to give the illusion of a higher position. This can lead to unnaturally arched and aesthetically displeasing eyebrows.
the scoop
Unlike the nose and the ears, ideal eyebrows are ones that are noticed! Too often however, brows draw attention for being unsightly or distorted. Dr. Deniz Basci wants what’s best for your brows. A brow lift can reposition your eyebrows into a more ideal position, just above your orbital rim and even help restore a subtle arch if desired. The procedure helps refresh heavy eyebrows that are leaning down on your eyelids, making you appear tired and older. Dr. Basci’s preferred result is elegant and natural. After a brow lift you will look rested, rejuvenated, less surly and more youthful.
Dr. Deniz Basci has specialized aesthetic fellowship training and a particular personal interest in brow aesthetics. With great eyebrows come great responsibility. Dr. Basci will assess your goals and evaluate your individual anatomy and tissue quality to determine a custom tailored treatment plan. She uses advanced surgical techniques that will ensure the longevity of your result by supporting and suspending the deep tissues of the brow in a more youthful position. After a lifetime of fierce focus on eye brow aesthetics, and nearly a decade of first class training in complex facial anatomy and the dynamic aging process, Dr. Basci is expertly equipped to deliver the best possible outcome for your brow lift.
A brow lift is often performed simultaneously with eyelid surgery, face lift, fat grafting or laser resurfacing. Schedule your consultation with Dr. Basci because life is too short to have bad brows!

Brow Lift Techniques:
Every individual has different aesthetic desires and eyebrows are especially varied in morphology from person to person and even side to side in one individual. Dr Deniz Basci has advanced training and expertise in brow lift surgery and will design a customized treatment plan based on your needs. There are several distinct surgical approaches Dr. Basci uses to rejuvenate the brow and forehead. Choice of surgical technique depends largely on your individual forehead anatomy and hair quality. Equally effective results can be obtained by any of the following techniques, pros and cons of each will be reviewed during your consultation
- Direct Brow Lift
An incision is made just above the brow in a pre-existing deep crease. Lax eyebrow soft tissue attachments are carefully released and the brow is repositioned. - Transblepharoplasty
An incision is made in the upper eyelid. The tail of the eyebrow is secured to the deep tissue - Hairline Brow Lift
An incision is made along your hairline. The skin is elevated. Lax eyebrow soft tissue attachments are carefully released and the brow is repositioned - Coronal Brow Lift
An incision is made from ear to ear 2 to 3 cm behind your hairline. The skin is elevated. Lax eyebrow soft tissue attachments are carefully released and the brow is repositioned. - Endoscopic Brow Lift
Limited incisions are made just behind the hairline. A camera is inserted to help visualize meticulous release of lax eyebrow soft tissue attachments and the brow is repositioned.
Preparing for Surgery
Prior to any surgery Dr Basci will review your general health history, surgical history and current medications. You will need to stop taking any medications or supplements that increase the risk of bleeding 2 weeks before surgery and remain off of them for 2 weeks following surgery. Make sure to check with your primary prescribing physician before stopping any medications.
It is important to prime your body with a healthy balanced diet in the months leading up to surgery. Make sure you have the appropriate protein intake. Protein is vital for healing. You may need to supplement your diet with protein shakes or bars for 3-6 weeks after surgery as your body works overtime to heal the surgical site.
Presenting a polished canvas for your newly rejuvenated face radiant glowing skin will exponentially improve your brow lift result. It is important to prevent sun damage with routine use of SPF in the months leading up to and following your finesse facelift. Dr Basci recommends a high quality skin care regimen for 2-3 months prior to surgery depending on the condition of your skin. In cases of extensive lines and furrows of the skin, laser resurfacing may be indicated to help smooth any texture irregularities. Maintenance photo-facials to erase pigmented lesions, prominent blood vessels and rosacea will help enhance and preserve your result.
Often, patients with heavy descended brows benefit from simultaneous eyelid surgery or fat grafting to the temples to restore volume and support the newly elevated brows. Restoring a youthful facial contour with smooth transitions between facial features is essential for a harmonious result. You can learn more about eyelid surgery and fat grafting.
Recovery from Brow Lift Surgery
Just as every individual procedure is distinct, so is every personal recovery. Most patients will go home the same day as their procedure. Dr Basci recommends you have a family member, friend or nurse to stay with you for the first 24-72 for your comfort. You should expect moderate bruising and swelling of the forehead that extends around your eyes following brow lift surgery. The swelling typically peaks on post-operative day 3 and then gradually begins to resolve. It is not uncommon to have numbness or tingling in your scalp and forehead. This will improve with time.
You may have one drain in the forehead that will need to be emptied and monitored twice daily. Drains are removed whenever the fluid output has decreased to less than 20ml in 24 hours; usually in 5-7 days. You may shower after your drains are removed. Avoid curling irons, intensely hot blow dryers, and chemically coloring your hair for 1-2 weeks after surgery, as your scalp may be numb in certain areas. This is to avoid inadvertently burning your scalp.
Any non-dissolving sutures will be removed in the office at your first a post-operative visit. You will need to apply a thin layer of ointment to your incisions once a day until they are fully healed and protect the incisions from sun exposure; Talk to Dr. Basci about when it is safe to begin silicone scar treatment.
You should supplement your regular balanced diet with protein shakes or bars for 3-6 weeks after surgery to help improve healing. This is not the time for diets or nutritional restriction. Your body needs vital amino acids and building blocks for healing.
Dr. Basci recommends you sleep with your head propped up on several pillows or semi-upright in a recliner for the first 1-2 weeks after surgery to minimize facial swelling. You should expect to be moderately swollen during the first two weeks. This will gradually improve along with any bruising, numbness and tingling. It typically takes 6-12 months for the swelling to fully resolve and at least 12 months for the incision scars to fully mature.
You will need to begin gently walking several times a day the evening of your surgery. This is to promote circulation and prevent blood clots. If you have a personal or family history of blood clots or other bleeding disorders be sure to speak with Dr. Basci.
After two weeks, you may begin light cardio activity but be sure to avoid heavy lifting, yoga, pilates and any other intense exercise for 4 weeks. Typically Dr Basci allows brow lift patients to resume full activities 6 weeks after surgery.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do you determine which brow lift technique is best for me?
- One of my eyebrows is lower than the other, will you make them even?
Everyone’s face if asymmetric. There is a long and lean side with smaller eye and a short and wide side with a bigger eye. This asymmetry starts all the way down in your bones. The soft tissues resting on top of an uneven surface will always be slightly asymmetric.
There will always be a higher and a lower brow. Dr. Basci’s detail oriented approach to brow lifts takes into account existing asymmetries and tailors the procedure to balance the differences. While your eyebrow asymmetry should largely improve, it will never be fully corrected because of the uneven bony foundation beneath the soft tissues.
- How long will my brow lift result last?
- I have an important event like my son’s wedding coming up, how far in advance should I have my brow lift?
- What is the recovery like?
Every individual recovery is unique. Typically patients go home the same day as surgery and are home bound for the first week when swelling and bruising is at its maximum. During the first 2-4 days after surgery you may need pain medication or a sleeping aid and it may be difficult to open your eyes due to swelling. After that most patients are fairly comfortable and pain free as they wait for swelling to resolve.
You may shower after your drains are removed. You may apply light make up after your sutures are removed at your 1 week post-operative visit. You will need to take short gentle walks several times a day during the first two weeks. After that you may resume light aerobic activity. You may not engage in heavy lifting, yoga, pilates, or other intense activity until 4 weeks after surgery. Most patients are back to full activity by 6 weeks post-operatively.
